Mara Simpson is a composer, performing artist and producer. Exploring analogue synths and tape machines to create her signature sound, woven from electronic and organic textures, she’s been described as an electronic producer and songwriter who’s the antithesis of digital pop polish and AI.

In addition to her solo albums, Mara has composed music for the AppleTV+ series SILO, the full score for magical-realist film Blue Hour and sync and featured compositions for Super Nature and Asombro as well as collaborating on records with Hidden Orchestra, Cerys Matthews, Poppy Ackroyd, Anna Phoebe, Her Ensemble and Alexandra Hamilton-Ayres.
Mara has performed over 300 shows including festivals such as Fusion Festival (Germany), Hidden Notes (UK), Smugglers Festival (UK) and venues including the Barbican in London plus live sessions at the iconic Real World Studio as well as guest presenting on BBC6 Music Freakzone, Refuge Worldwide and Flux FM. Her music has starred in Rough Trade’s Album Club and been supported by the likes of Cerys Matthews, Radcliffe and Maconie, Guy Garvey, Tom Ravenscroft and Deb Grant on BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Radio 3 Unclassified with Elizabeth Alker.
